Okay, I admit I’m addicted to high heels.
I’m petite and it was a way for me to assert myself and improve my self-esteem as a teenager. Plus, my mother always wore high heels to go out and for special occasions, and I always thought it was beautiful and a way to enhance the femininity.
So around the age of 15 or 16, I started wearing heels to go to party. Then, seeing that it improved my self-confidence, I wore them every day. And then, as I became more and more comfortable and accustomed to them, I also started wearing higher and higher heels year after year.
Today, I can’t live without my high heels. I feel naked without them, and I wear them all the time except for working out. Generally, I wear 4-inch heels every day, but for evening, I prefer 5 or 6 inch heels. Even my mules for staying at home have 2 or 3 inch heels.
For the women on the forum, are any of you in my situation? What’s your story with your high heels and what are your favorite shoes? Or maybe you don’t like high heels and why?
For the men, what’s your opinion on women who wear heels? Do you like them? Or are you indifferent?
I am one of those men who is a complete sucker for high heels. My wife didn’t wear them when we met, max what she wore was like 7 cms (3”) which - in my book - are not high heels.
Because of my bad influence, and me buying her a cheap pair of 10 cm (4”) stilleto heels, we found out she could easily handle them.
Sinds then I’ve bought her Nero Giardini’s, Steve Madsen and Peter Kaiser heels which she wears when we go out. She can handle 10 cm like a champ. I’ve bought a pair of 12 cm heels once, but they where too small in size. We plan to buy her Louboutin’s in 12 cm heel one day. So that the price motivates her to endure the agony of walking on heels this high, while she’s only a 36 shoesize. US that’s a 5 I think.
Completely indifferent myself. Not opposed in any way, and supportive that anyone should do whatever makes them feel good. I’ve just always supported comfort above all else.
I like the idea of heels and think a lot of women look really good in them. But if I were to wear them often I’d have to give up on my T-shirt and norts, and that just feels like a lot of work. So I mostly stick with my Converse, for comfort’s sake.

I wear high heels primarily for myself. For my pleasure, my comfort, and my well-being. But I’ve also often noticed that it’s something that appeals to men. I don’t know if it’s a generality or specific cases, or if it’s a detail or more of a fantasy for many men?

I doubt she had any idea what she was valuing/improving since she had not actually seen much of anything or the buildings, etc.
All that being said, I think that everybody should wear whatever they enjoy, whatever makes them feel good, whatever is comfortable for them. And for those that are attracted to high-heel-wearing-women (or men), more power to you!

But comfort is also, and above all, a matter of habit. It’s because I wear heels all the time that I don’t even think about them anymore, and it’s because I wear 4-inch heels every day that I have no problem wearing 5- or 6-inch stilettos for a night out.

Personally, I don’t really like platforms. I prefer single-sole high heels, which I find more chic and sophisticated. I prefer sandals and I love little, thin mules for summer. I also prefer very thin heels, as high as possible.
For me, the prettiest are 6-inch heels, but for everyday comfort, they’re not wearable, so I settle for 4 inches during the day.
I also like wedges during the summer, during vacations, because they allow me to wear heels at the beach.
Finally, I’m a size 36, I think that’s a US size 5.
I’m in the camp of Canassman and Anallover. Heels never did much for me, unless maybe make me feel like the women would not be interested in me. It’s not so much outdoorsy stuff in my life, but the field I am in, women rarely wear high heels, if ever.
