I have discovered that pasting copied “text” from other websites into the “create-new / reply-to topic” box on this website also pastes in HTML and related codes that were embedded in the original source material that was copied.
It just happened to me on another post and had to edit out all the extraneous codes.
It also happened on this original post:
I looked for a method in this website to “paste as plain text” (or in my browser to “copy only as plain text”), but I found nothing.
Is “paste as plain text” an optional feature (such as via right click or something) that is available to be turned on for this forum software?
Haha! No answers from this tech-challenged Baby Boomer. I disagree with the “correct” answer to one of the questions. If there were five women each with three holes the total number of holes I’d fuck are five. With the occasional exception of an ass to mouth lick and suck, there’s just one hole I wish to use. Thankfully, that hole doesn’t have teeth.
I just tried to copy chunk of some other page (including images etc) in this reply and these are my observations:
Posts here are basically a plain text that use special symbols for formatting.
The result of pasting copied HTML is a plain text, it just tries to format it so the output would be close to what you have copied.
I saw no HTML tags in the copied result.
Yes, if you copied something including links etc it could become a mess. But it didn’t seem so bad to me and I copied a lot of garbage.
I would suggest to copy as little as possible from other sites and also selecting only text.
If you observed something worse than that then please be more specific of what you need to resolve. Also what browser did you use etc…
About the post you quoted. I am not sure how that was made but it just has values in formatting swapped. It should be [Text of link](URL) and it is [URL](Text of link).
Anyway, to your question. Unfortunately no, editor is as is. Only thing we can do is figure out what is happening wrong to you and find out some solutions you could use.
Anyway I would think twice if copying big chunks of content from other pages is appropriate.
