for Debussy, amazing soundscapes …
I’m listening to Ravel at the moment because I can’t sleep
I hope it brought you some sleep!
Eventually yet I still woke at 07.00 bright and breezy
Big influences groing up were punk and ska. Before Punk it was just rock and pop. However since punk I’ve probably taken something from every genre. I am now expanding into other older genres like jazz, some classical - I’ve always like Chopin and Bach.
Some recent finds: Thumpasaurus and The Growlers.
Anyone here into Sleep Token ? The new track is getting a tot of attention due to the off time drumgroove.
So without really hearing them I ‘ve just ordered 3 vinyl records of Sleep Token
As I’m approaching in my mid-sixties, my music tastes have changed dramatically. I cannot longer tolerate the music in my youth as I find it non-productive. Brings back memories that I’d rather forget… LOL!
These days that I find myself living in, I don’t play much music at all. I rather like music that is harmonious to the soul and nature. I’m attuned to harmony now. Quite often if I walk into a business that I sense isn’t harmonious or detect disharmony, I walk out. I can detect whether folk are harmonious too. I was never like that but everything changed for me when Cate and I did our first couples only Tantric Retreat.
Music does wonders to the soul, in whatever vibration you find yourself in. As long as it floats your boat, go for it. Thank you AOL community.
This might seem weird, but have you listened to John Dowland? His lute music is a dream! In a slightly different direction, if you enjoy early American music, Jim’s Red Pants can be quite enchanting (Shem the Baker being one of my absolute favorite songs ever!).
And I wish I could direct you to a trio of albums I have but they’re out of print and not uploaded anywhere. But I swear, if the soul is made of music, that’s the sound of mine!
Dowland is fantastic, and a calming balm when burned out or overstimulated.
Edit: For those unfamiliar, hour-long examples of instrumental music of his are easy to find, for something quick (and to give the quartet a fun source of traffic for their video) check out this one:
I’ll have to listen in, I really like the American band Sleep, of Dopesmoker fame.
Bought some music on vinyl by Falling In Revers. It’s metalcore with a great twist. That singer is raw talent and not afraid to chalk outside the lines.
Good taste. My playlist is mainly power metal. It’s 1084 songs long, tho I don’t have many bands in it, it’s just that I have most of their music. I’ve got some Lorna Shore, Asking Alexandria and Arch Enemy, appart from most of Iron Maiden’s and Avenges Sevenfold’s songs.
Not giving it tho.
Cool video but I think he should try getting his blood pressure checked. Perhaps trying some Camomile Tea might help him chill out!
Metalcore singers are all functioning on steroids
Most of you know I was born shortly after the planet began to cool following the Big Bang. A few of you might be familiar with Fleetwood Mac. The band reached super-band status when it welcomed Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to the band in 1974.
Six months before joining the band, Buckingham and Nicks cut an album. If you like Fleetwood Mac, you will really enjoy this hard to find, rare album. In my younger years, I’d play this during sexual encounters with the women I dated, including Mrs Colt. Every now and then, I’ll play it during our anal encounters. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.
If you prefer a little more “pace” to your music, here’s a track from one of the best live recordings, according to people who rate that kind of stuff. Sadly, all but one of the original members of the Allman Brothers Band is still alive, the same fate I was likely headed towards had I not met Mrs Colt. This is best played at full volume. Enjoy.
When my brother died of cancer, his widow gave his vinyl albums to me.
Two Fleedwood Mac albums in it are Tusk and Rumours. It’s good music for easy late light listening.
But one album is his collection that I grew loving is The Eagles’ The Long Run. Brilliant album.
Eagles are another great band. What’s left of the band still tours.
I love the melodic vocals of Jeff Walker from Carcass or Pest, the former Gorgoroth vocalist Pest!!
The Long Run… I may have to check that out. I’ve been poking around Eagles music but have only managed to listen to a handful of scattered songs. If that’s a good album though, I’ll give it a listen.
