Well, my wife and I had a curious conversation last night.
She is scheduled for her first colonoscopy. I’ve had a couple myself already. The colonoscopy itself is a breeze… it’s the diet a week ahead and the “clean out” the day before that’s not so fun.
Anyway, we definitely won’t be having any sex during the clean out day, but we are curious about when we should stop having our normal anal sex? Like how long is there detectable semen or any evidence of anal sex that may interfere with the colonoscopy process? Anyone have any idea?
also… she’s worried she may moan during the colonoscopy as her anus is definitely her pleasure spot!
My wife starts moaning from the moment her asshole gets penetrated, she often claims she’s not aware she is moaning. So I’ve also wondered if she will moan when that scope penetrates her asshole.
If the doctor or anesthetist hears moaning, he/she will likely assume that it is because of discomfort and will increase the anesthesia. (From my perspective, because more anesthesia means more risk, that is not a good thing.)
However, my wife and I have each had a couple colonoscopies and neither of us have any memory of anything past getting wheeled into the procedure room. If either of us made any noise it was probably just snoring.
Water makes up 97% of semen, and is quickly absorbed by the colon and rectum. If anything remains, it will be clean out by the laxatives. So, don’t worry.
And the anesthesia makes you sleep like MJ. People don’t feel anything, they get the best sleep of their lives. So, again, not to worry.
I have a colonoscopy at the end of the month. My wife thinks they’ll be able to tell she’s anal only by how easy it is to insert the scope when she has hers.
Chances are she’ll be out like a light with the anesthesia. It’s an important test. She’ll do fine and the scope’s “girth” is rather underwhelming for anal pros.
Wait, what ? Anasthesia for a colonoscopy ? Are you for real ? In Belgium you’re totally awake and consious, they let you follow the path of the camera on screen. My colonoscopy wasn’t painfull at all, just a little akwward.
Weird, general anesthesia isn’t something to take lightly. I can imagine an endoscopy being very tough when consious.
But after my brother was diagnosed with bowelcancer, his oncologist adviced my sister and me to do a preventive exam. We both had our colonoscopy consious with local anesthesia and could follow the travel of the camera in real time. I remember seeing how clean the walls of my bowels were and having inside jokes about all those people I know who pay like €150 for a cleansing to remove “year old leftovers in the bowel system”. All hoaxes.
I’ve had four colonoscopies and all involved anesthesia. It wasn’t enough to knock me out the first time so I watched on the screen as they removed five polyps from my colon.
I could easily have my next one at the end of July without anesthesia but their policy is to use anesthesia. Follow the $$$$
Canadian here. I’ve had 3 colonoscopies. Generally speaking here there is a light sedation, often called “twilight sedation”. This allows you to be conscious during the procedure, but you typically will recall little to nothing. My first 2 I remember nothing from, but my last one I recall a lot. But it recalls as “hazy”,
I was under light sedation. I was able to follow the camera on screen for the first few minutes, but it got uncomfortable so they increased the dose. Next thing I know, I’m waking up and putting my clothes on.
Interestingly a day or two later, doing anal was easier than it had been in a long time.
