My generation here in Brazil grep up learning swear words and insults that literally compared the cursed person to gay people or the gay lifestyle, as if being gay were a bad thing. (Thank God, the world has been changing a lot since then). There are many examples, one of them is viado (which in Portuguese is “deer” and means “faggot”), but I want to focus on this specific one: vai tomar no cu, which literally means “go to take it up your ass”. Each language has its own similar expressions, some are literally the same (like the Italian vaffanculo), others are a little different (like the German leck mich am Arsch, which means “lick my ass”), but they all have a depreciative context regarding anal practices.
I used those expressions for several years, until a gay friend alerted me: “You shouldn’t say that, because there are people who really like to take it up the ass. And you want to wish a bad thing for the person, and not something pleasurable, right?”. Wise words. So, little by little, I started to put these expressions aside, policing myself at first until they lost their usefulness. Now they are meaningless for me, especially since I have someone by my side who likes to take it up her ass, but I still hear some people cursing others with them.
And you? Did you stop using certain swear words after you adopted the anal passion?
